On average 3.5-7 billion trees worldwide are cut down each year and in 2015, Australia removed 395,000 hectares of native trees, this is about the size of Sydney or Melbourne. The environmentalist party will introduce a new law that entails when trees are cut down for the purpose of creating clear land for construction like buildings, roads and houses.  Companies that are involved in the construction will have to replant or pay the price of replanting trees, the trees will be replanted in a different area in that suburb the construction took place.

The environmental party will introduce new laws on such as limits on how many trees can be cut down per year for companies to reduce deforestation. Under our plan, we will slowly reduce the amounts of trees that are cut down per year so we can save our forests and continue to protect the trees that give us oxygen, store carbon, stabilize the soil and give life to the world’s wildlife. This would be important as the excessive loss of trees in our forest have been one of the factors climate change and affected our natural ecosystems. The advantage of this law will be that companies will be able to find other materials to use for their works without the need to cut down excessive amounts of trees and find ways to work around making use of the space they have so they do not need to contribute to more deforestation. The cost of replacing the use of trees and space where forests are now will be added to the money spent on medicare. By 2025 we hope that the net loss of acres of trees will be reduced to 6 million from the 8.2 million acres that are being lost now per year.
